BEIJING - Chinese President Hu Jintao and other top leaders are scheduled to meet with visiting Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Tuesday.

"Although President al-Bashir's arrival in Beijing was delayed due to technical reasons, his meetings and talks with Chinese leaders will not be affected," Hong said at a regular news briefing.

Al-Bashir's flight arrived at the Beijing Capital International Airport early Tuesday morning, almost 24 hours later than expected.

"President Hu Jintao will hold talks with President al-Bashir tomorrow morning," Hong said, adding that China's top legislator Wu Bangguo and Vice Premier Li Keqiang are scheduled to meet with the Sudanese leader on Wednesday afternoon.

Speaking in regard to a warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for the Sudanese president's arrest, Hong said China is not a member of the ICC Rome Statute.

"President al-Bashir has visited many countries in recent years, and he has been warmly received in those countries," Hong said, adding that he will be equally welcomed in China.
