BEIJING - Taiwan applicants have enthusiastically signed up for the upcoming third Strait Forum in Xiamen city of East China's Fujian province, a mainland official said on Wednesday.
The forum, scheduled from June 11 to 17, is expected to have over 10,000 in attendance, an increase from the previous forum, said Fan Liqing, spokeswoman for the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, said at a press conference.
The unofficial forum will focus on grassroots exchanges across the Taiwan Strait and includes 13 activities, such as cross-Straits folk tales, cultural exchanges, and the staging of Taiwan temple fairs, according to Fan.
Sixteen sub-forums will cover topics such as science, technology, finance, postal service and traditional Chinese medicine.
The Chinese mainland and Taiwan held the first Strait Forum in Fujian in 2009, and the second was held in 2010.
