BEIJING - Military chiefs of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member nations will convene at a meeting in Shanghai on April 25 to review SCO cooperation in the defense and security sectors.
Sources at the Information Office of China's Ministry of National Defense said Friday that the chiefs of staff of SCO countries' armed forces will sum up the experiences in past cooperation and explore more extensive ways of cooperation in the future.
The meeting, the first of its kind since the SCO was established 10 years ago, is an important event for SCO defense and security cooperation this year, according to the sources.
Meanwhile, the meeting is meant to fulfill the agreements made during last year's SCO summit in Tashkent, capital city of Uzbekistan, said the sources.
Founded in 2001, the SCO consists of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
