Sodality for singles held in Chengdu Hi-tech Zone

The Third Single Youth Sodality of the Chengdu Hi-tech Zone in Sichuan Province was held on Saturday, drawing nearly 400 single young people from both inside and outside the zone.

The sodality was aimed at providing a platform for the single youth make friends and find their better halves. Because the Chengdu High-tech Zone is far away from the city center and work there is very busy, a large number of men and women are single. “I just wanted to find a simple girl," Xie, 30, said in the event held yesterday.

An information engineering major, Xie is a manager in a high-tech software enterprise in the zone. Despite his potential as a successful manager, Xie was single. With the intention of finding somebody to celebrate the New Year together, he entered his name for the sodality at the end of last year and found a girlfriend there. The sodality as a public-spirited event will continue, according to organizers of the event.
