Chinese romance hits new heights in Sydney

SYDNEY: At the dawn of this Valentine's Day, couples who traveled to Sydney from China scaled to the top of the world famous Sydney Harbor Bridge for a most romantic welcome to their New Year on Sunday.

With the two occasions this year coinciding, the six couples heightened their declarations of love and "Happy Chinese New Year" at 134 meters above the majestic Sydney Harbor.

Zi Ying Wang from Shanghai said it was a very special place to celebrate Valentine's Day with my partner, "the views were breathtaking," she told Xinhua.

"What makes it inspirational is that we are up so high, getting a bird's eye view of the beautiful city," Hong Jun Zhang said.

Another couple, Cai Zhao Ming and Zhang Li, are celebrating their honeymoon in Australia and said "the mist surrounding the city this morning really made it a magical experience...just unforgettable".

The Sydney Harbor Bridge is no stranger to romance; it is estimated that over 2,800 couples have become engaged whilst climbing the Bridge over the last 11 years.
