China's National People's Congress (NPC), the country's top legislature, said on Tuesday that it would tighten and improve the supervision over government this year.
In 2010, the NPC Standing Committee would hear reports on hot issues by relevant State Council departments and ask main leaders from those departments to listen to suggestions, respond to inquiries and answer questions, according to a work report released by committee on Tuesday.
Inquiries and interrogations are legal means by which people's congresses oversee governments, courts and procuratorates, but they have been rarely used in the past few decades.
