The 2010 CCTV Mid-Autumn Festival Gala will be held in Wuhu, Anhui province. The good news was released by insiders on August 2 and soon was affirmed by the crews of the CCTV group.
The Chinese New Year Gala, the Lantern Festival Party and the Mid-Autumn Festival Gala are the three most important grand-scale entertainment shows hosted by CCTV every year. While the Chinese New Year Gala focuses on language-related programs due to its limited time and locations, the Mid-Autumn Festival Gala features flamboyant singing and dancing as well as poetry-reading that runs through the party from the beginning to the end.
The glorious job of organizing the gala falls on the shoulders of Guo Jihong, known as the “beautiful director” who graduated from Beijing Broadcasting Institute in 1988. Guo, who has assumed the position of director for the Mid-Autumn Festival Gala for six consecutive years, was named best director at the 2006 Houston International Film Festival for directing the 2006 Mid-Autumn Gala Festival.
The 2010 Mid-Autumn Festival Gala will be held at 8 pm on September 22 in a scenic zone called Sunshine Peninsula in Wuhu. Sunshine Peninsula, 22 kilometers away from downtown Wuhu, covers a total area of 3,000 hectares of which 1,300 hectares are water. The scenic zone is decorated with a two-kilometer ecological water-corridor and the highest spring in Wuhu. The unique culture and abundant eco-tourism resources make Sunshine Peninsula a perfect place to host grand-scale entertainment activities.
