Hong Kong Week will launch with a gala performance on the Expo's BaoSteel Stage on Oct 20 with performances by famous pop singers from the region.

A giant 3D cartoon book will form the centerpiece of the show, with each page representing different aspects of Hong Kong.

Performers drawn from the Hong Kong Children and Juvenile Cantonese Opera Troupe, aged between 4 and 19, will show their skills on the stage from Oct 18-22.

In the same building, young artists' creations from four universities in Hong Kong will also be exhibited.

Meanwhile, a parade will run through the Expo Garden daily from Oct 18-22, with jazz singer Ginger Kwan serving as one of the highlights.

The Hong Kong Sinfonietta will cap the week's festivities by performing Stravinsky's A Soldier's Story at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center on Oct 22.

The week's activities inside the Expo Garden will coincide with an exhibition named Style Hong Kong highlighting fashion and design from the region.

The exhibition will run at the Hong Kong Design Center in Bridge 8, a well-known compound for artistic and architectural firms in Shanghai.

Another exhibition focusing on contemporary art from Hong Kong is taking place at the same time at the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA Shanghai) in People's Square.
