The Filarmonica della Scala is an independent organization founded by Claudio Abbado, along with musicians from the La Scala Opera House, in 1982 with the aim of developing a symphonic repertoire to add a further dimension to La Scala's great operatic tradition.

A series of performances and exhibitions from Germany will be held all week. Photographs by German artists Michael Wolf, Gregor Stephan and Robert Eysoldt are on display from Sept 14 to 26 on the ground floor and second floor lobby of the mall. This afternoon, German photographer and artist Reinhold W Aiette-Shagal will give a lecture on appreciation of photographic art on the second floor lobby.

Princess Sissi, an original musical from Austria, will be staged today. When China began to open up to Western culture, the movie, starring Romy Schneider as Princess Elisabeth of Bavaria, who was also known as Sissi, was shown in Chinese and became popular all over the country. Like the movie, the musical will highlight the love story between Sissi and Kaiser Franz Joseph.
The musical spares no expense on stage settings and costumes in order to present authentic palace life.

Nino Retrete, winner the best performance at the Off de Calle 2009 in Zaragoza, Spain and Breakthrough Artist at the 2004 Cordoba-Argentina, is bringing his show Toylette to the Expo Garden, inviting visitors to dream along in his world by using his unique body language.
"It is the funniest show from my point of view," said Lee Li-heng, director of City Square Art Festival at the Expo. The show will be held twice a day at 4 pm and 6 pm until the end of September.

Germany's Cologne Opera House will present The Ring of the Niberlung - Richard Wagner's most ambitious opera - a cycle of four epic operas: The Rhinegold, The Valkyrie, Siegfried and The Twilight of the Gods. Taking stories from German folklore, the opera features everyday problems of living, such as money, power, love and art.
The opera will see more than 400 actors from Germany. Tonight's show will start at 7:30 pm, with no intermission. Three of the four operas take more than 3 hours to perform, so the show will start at 6:30 pm tomorrow, and 5:30 pm on the two following nights.

Daning LifeHub
For three nights from Sept 21to 23, two moons will hang above the shopping mall at Daning LifeHub, celebrating the traditional Chinese Moon Festival. Tonight, a multi-media show will be given, where dancers will present the images of the moon in traditional Chinese poetry, and Kunqu opera singers will sing alongside jazz artists. Then comes the highlight of the show when the surface of the moon will be shown on a central screen mixed with images of the audiences. All of a sudden, everyone will be having a party on the moon.

Huating Hotel
Cranbourne Chorale from Australia will perform with two choirs from the Overseas Returned Scholars Association and St John's Alumni in Huating Hotel.
At the concert, the three choirs will perform both separately and together. Performances will include Barcarole from The Tales of Hoffman by Offenbach; popular Chinese songs like The Same Song and Me and My Homeland; and some Australian pop songs including I Still Call Australia Home.
Cranbourne Chorale is a community-based choir that provides an opportunity for members to gain enjoyment and satisfaction from learning and singing together.
The exchange performance in Shanghai is one stop on the Australian choir's 12-day China tour. They will also meet with choirs in Xiamen and Beijing.
