Foshan Case Pavilion
The martial art of kungfu is presented as an art form at the Foshan Case Pavilion - in the form of red ceramic statues of kungfu legend Bruce Lee in different poses.
The 49 individual statues are in the inner-exhibition hall of the pavilion, which covers about 500 square meters. The statues, which were created using traditional Foshan carving techniques together with modern art concepts, aim to show the spirit of Foshan through kungfu. The exhibition continues until Aug 22.

Shanghai Grand Theatre
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will give a concert. Maestro Charles Dutoit will conduct the orchestra, which was founded after World War II and attracts musicians from all over the world. The orchestra first performed in Shanghai 10 years ago.
As part of the orchestra's activities in China, Dutoit will hold a public discussion with the artistic director of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Yu Long, at 1:30 pm this afternoon. No tickets are required for the public but seating is limited.

Bilbao Case Pavilion
The popular band, Fito & Fitipaldis, from Bilbao in northern Spain will perform. When the show begins at 6:30 pm, three big video screens in the city of Bilbao will show the Shanghai concert live. The event is part of the Expo celebrations for Bilbao Day on Aug 22.
Organized by the city government of Bilbao, through its pavilion in the Urban Best Practices Area, and with the sponsorship of the Spain Pavilion, the concert comes to China as part of Fito & Fitipaldis' "Before I Count Ten" tour of the country. Before I Count Ten is also the name of the band's best-selling album released in 2009, which sold more than 200,000 copies.

Shanghai Art Museum
Ceramic paintings by Liu Mingwu from Taiwan are on exhibit. A renowned temple designer, Liu was fascinated with the ceramic decoration in Taiwan's temples and decided to use it in art creation. He created pigments and used them on thin ceramic boards, before baking them in a kiln. The paintings have a rough surface, full color presentation and a rich texture. More than 60 works are exhibited.
The exhibition continues until Sept 2.

Rockbund Museum
The work of one of China's most important contemporary artists, Zeng Fanzhi, is on display. Besides his recent paintings, the artist is also presenting, for the first time, sculptures in metal and wood.
Zeng's earlier work depicted people in masks. His latest creations focus on animals in their natural environment.
Besides the main venue at Rockbund Museum, Zeng will also present his artwork in a church on the Bund, where his previous paintings have been reproduced on the church's windows.
The exhibition will continue until Oct 12.

Shanghai Art Museum
An exhibition featuring art from three Asian cities connected by World Expos: Aichi, Japan; Shanghai, China; and Yeosu, South Korea.
In 2005, the Aichi Expo was themed "Wisdom of Nature". The current Expo Shanghai 2010 has the theme of "Better City, Better Life". Yeosu, with a history of 1,400 years, will feature sustainable development of the oceans as its Expo theme. The Yeosu Expo will be held from May 12 to Aug 12, 2012.
The exhibition continues until Aug 27.

Shanghai Museum
Today a new exhibition opens at the Shanghai Museum featuring 18th-century Russian art and cultural relics. This is the first Russian art exhibition at the Shanghai Museum.
The exhibition features Russian culture and art during its Golden Age - the reign of Catherine the Great. All the exhibits come from the State Hermitage Museum, including paintings, sculptures, prints and other artwork in the Tsarina's collection, as well as furniture, costume, jewelry and so on.
The exhibition continues until Dec 12.
