Rhinoceros in Love

Contemporary Chinese dramatist Meng Jinghui, in collaboration with his wife, playwright Liao Yimei, directs this original play. The play premiered about 10 years ago and has become part of the repertoire of the National Drama Theater. It tells an allegorical story about love and choice.

A Sigh of Love

The Shanghai Ballet will present this original dance drama set in 1930s Shanghai. Borrowing elements from the movie, In the Mood For Love, by Hong Kong director Wong Kar-Wai, the ballet tells of tragic love, as two people desperately attracted to each other are separated by fate.

Pottery sisters

Three female artists, who all have studied porcelain art in Jingdezhen, went their separate ways to the United States, Europe and Australia. Now, Kang Qing, Xie Mingjuan and Zhang Jingjing have joined up once again to present a new exhibition. Although all inspired by water-ink art, the three artists have developed diverse individual styles.

Lecture

Music and digital Images

These days music and images do not have to be separate audio and visual presentations, as they are sometimes fused by way of interactive media. How do you showcase classical music with digital images? What does classical music look like in digital image form? Digital graphic designer Da Yan and pianists Shen Bing and Ma Sichen will give a lecture introducing a new way to enjoy music. It's a free educational program provided by Shanghai Grand Theatre. Those interested can collect two free tickets each at the theater's box office. You will need to show a valid ID.
