The Scholar and the Executioner
The play, created in 2006, has won many national awards. It tells the story of a scholar in the early 20th century. Unable to find his position in the rapid-changing social environment, he finds company with an executioner turned butcher. The two men, both dislocated by changing times, become soul mates.

The Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center will present a new production of the modern Chinese dramatic masterpiece, Thunderstorm, by Cao Yu. Thunderstorm tells the story of a family tragedy in the early 20th century. Wuxia
