BOGOTA - Colombian Foreign Trade Minister Jaime Bermudez started on Monday his trip to China, where he will visit the Shanghai World Expo.

This year marks the bicentenary anniversary of Colombia's independence and 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Colombia and China, said the Foreign Trade Ministry in a statement.

During his Expo trip, Bermudez will celebrate the 200th anniversary of his country's independence with both Colombian nationals and visitors at the Colombian Pavilion.

Themed "Better city, better life", Shanghai World Expo, which runs from May to October, is being attended by 190 countries and expected to attract some 70 million visitors.
