Don Quixote

One of China's most acclaimed contemporary dramatists Meng Jinghui will bring his latest production, Don Quixote, to Shanghai. The show stars Guo Tao, a theatrical actor also famous for his acting career in the movie industry.

Along the River

The Hong Kong Dance Company has turned China's treasured painted scroll Along the River During the Qingming Festival into a dance production. The company created the performance in 2007 to promote Chinese dance and develop an artistic identity for Hong Kong. The performance has won high acclaim from critics.

Photographer Feng Xuemin has been photographing western China landscapes for the past 25 years. More than 100 pictures will be exhibited, featuring the diverse culture, lifestyle, ideas, religion and art of different minority ethnic groups in China.

Zeitgeist

Artist Huang Yulong, 27, tries to shed some light on the influence of pop culture on the modern mentality by means of a mechanical installation. This is one of a series of exhibitions recommended by Zendai Museum of Modern Art, a museum committed to providing a platform for young artists to showcase their talents.

Life in Color

Fifteen contemporary artists from France will have a joint exhibition, presenting their paintings, drawings and sculptures. The Beijing Cultural Development Foundation has provided academic support for the exhibition.

Shanghai Museum will give a series of free lectures to the public during the summer vacation. Those who are interested in learning about antiques and history can call 021-9696-8686 to reserve one of the 300 seats for each lecture. At 10 am on July 13, 20, 27 and Aug 3, a director from one of the public museums in Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi and Beijing, will give a lecture.
