Magical voice to capture stage
Agnes Obel

Danish singer and songwriter Agnes Obel will perform at Europe Square at 7:15 pm tomorrow.

Obel lives in Berlin but grew up in Copenhagen and will be performing with

fellow musicians, Anne Moller and Alex Flagstad.

The music of Agnes Obel doesn't restrict itself to one genre but has a touch of experimental indie and folk to it. Her songs touch the audience as they are simple, poetic and dreamy, with her sensual vocals and elegant piano playing.

Agnes Obel has already attracted quite a bit of attention in Germany as her song

"Just So" was used in an advertisement for Deutsche Telekom. Furthermore she has contributed with three songs to the soundtrack of Danish film director Thomas Vinterberg's (known for the Dogme film “The Celebration”) latest movie, “Submarino.”

She will release her debut album "Philharmonics" in August.

The performance by Agnes Obel is part of a much larger musical program arranged

by the Denmark Pavilion. Twenty-six 26 talented Danish bands, choirs and orchestras will give performances during the 26 weeks of Expo 2010, every Wednesday from May 5 until the end of October, either in the Denmark Pavilion or on Europe Stage.

The music, mostly modern rhythmic music, includes a great variety of genres such as jazz, blues, world, rock, pop and electro.
