Zhao Yali, China's deputy commissioner general for World Expo 2010, said he believed the San Marino Pavilion would be favored by visitors worldwide for its blend of traditional and modern features.
Minister for Tourism Fabio Berardi said the country had only taken part in two World Expos and attached great importance to the Shanghai fair.
A display of archery was performed among colorful banners by the San Marino Crossbowmen's Federation at noon in the Expo Center. With medieval pageantry, they also took part in the parade on Bocheng Road in the afternoon.
San Marino, sometimes called "the most serene republic," is a tiny landlocked country within Italy.
The San Marino Pavilion themed "The City-State" is in Zone C in the Europe Joint Pavilion, next to the Hungary and Czech pavilions.

It displays a full-size reproduction of its Statue of Liberty. The statue stands in the main square of San Marino in front of the Public Palace or Parliament.
The showcase spotlights episodes of the country's history, its unique institutional system with two heads of state and government (the Captains Regent), as well as its culture, tourism and economy.
The first area goes back over the 1,700 years of the Republic's history, from its foundation to entering UNESCO, passing through the most noteworthy episodes.
The second area uses videos and pictures to promote tourism.
The Institutions room, a sort of "room of customs" will take visitors to discover the institutional system capable of conserving democracy throughout the centuries.
The fourth exhibition room highlights the merits of the country system, from production to banking.
