If the shoe fits

Authorized Expo souvenirs are selling fast in the Expo Garden and slippers are surprisingly listed among the best-selling items. Visitors whose footwear becomes uncomfortable after trudging around the site for a couple of hours are opting to buy these souvenirs to ease the pain. China mugs and teacups adorned with dragon or Chinese paintings are popular among overseas visitors.

Sailing to the Expo

Xia Yu, an environmental activist, has made a boat with 2,010 used plastic bottles, which he is sailing to the Expo Garden. He started his journey from Hunan province, 1,500 kilometers from Shanghai.

The boat is 7 meters in length and 1.5 meter in width. Xia said he is not sure whether he will be permitted to enter the Expo Garden in his boat, but he will enjoy the experience nonetheless.

Movie magic

Cinemas in pavilions at the Expo Garden compete with one another fiercely, attracting visitors with special effects and themes. IMAX screens, 4D effects and holographs are widely used in pavilion theaters.

Visitors can stand, sit and even lie on the ground to watch films with themes varying from making of French cuisine and transformation of oil.
