US singers Jonathan Buck and Siedah Garrett gave a touching performance of the song "Better City, Better Life" at the opening ceremony on Friday.

But when they sung "Ala nong," two key words in the lyric, they made Shanghai locals smile and others confused -- the two words are "me and you" in Shanghai dialect.

The song was composed jointly by renowned U.S. composer Quincy Delight Jones and Academy Award-winning Chinese conductor Tan Dun.
