HOHHOT - A railway tunnel under construction in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region collapsed Monday, killing seven workers and injuring three others, the local work safety bureau said Tuesday.
The three injured workers are being treated in hospital and are in stable conditions.
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
The 282 km-long railway line will link Chifeng in Inner Mongolia and Jinzhou in neighboring Liaoning province. Construction on it began in January 2009.
