Brussels - Whether the yuan is to appreciate is a sovereign issue and Europe should not impose pressure to accelerate the process, said a high-level member of the European Parliament (MEP) on Wednesday.
"We'd like to see that (yuan's appreciation) happen but we'd like to see it happen in a normal way without outside pressure," Iliana Ivanova, vice-chair of the delegation for relations with China, told China Daily. "It is a free decision China will make when it is ready," the MEP said.
Ivanova made the remarks when meeting a visiting Chinese media delegation in the European Parliament.
