The SEF would deliver the funds to the mainland-based Association for Relations Across Taiwan Strait (ARATS) as soon as possible, said a statement issued by the foundation.

Taiwan expected the money to be used to restore the normal life of affected people, the statement said.

A number of provinces and regions on the mainland were hit by serious floods and landslides this summer. A devastating landslide hitting Zhouqu county of Northwest Guansu province on August 8 killed 1,435 people and left 330 missing.

The SEF delivered a message of condolences to the ARATS on August 8 and the Red Cross Society in Taiwan started a month-long fund raising campaign for the landslide victims on August 12 and donated $100,000 to the mainland, according to the SEF statement.
