Death toll in China mudslide rises to 1,117

ZHOUQU, Gansu - The death toll in the massive mudslide in northwest China's Gansu Province has risen to 1,117, with 627 still missing, local authorities said Wednesday.

A total of 567 survivors had received clinical treatment and further 64 seriously injured had been hospitalized as of 5:20 pm, the provincial civil affairs bureau said in a statement.

The death toll stood at 702 Tuesday, with 1,042 others missing.
