330,000 people face water crisis in NE China

Four water pipes supplying NE China’s Tonghua city have been damaged by unprecedented floods, leaving some 330,000 people facing a drinking water crisis, cnr.cn reported.

The broken sections were discovered between the pump station and water treatment plant, at a distance of 1.3 km from the Ermi River.

The accident happened at 10 am on Saturday and caused an immediate stop to drinking water. The repair work is underway around the clock, according to a local public service official.

The local government vowed to supply a sufficient supply of bottled drinking water and provide clean water to residents from 7 am to 6 pm from a van, the report said
