Victims of domestic violence may get more legal help with compensation, according to a draft aiming to prevent and restrain family violence in East China's Zhejiang province, Xinhuanet.com reported Friday.

The draft called Regulations for Prevention and Restraining of Domestic Violence of Zhejiang Province defined family violence as beating, binding, maltreating and imprisoning under force as the provincial legislature deliberated on the draft on Thursday.

It's estimated in the province complaints concerning domestic violence account for 14.5 percent of all cases from 2008 to the first half of 2010 and women are more prone to channel petitions about this problem in their complaints to the government.
