MACAO - Macao's Judiciary Police arrested three men from the Chinese mainland who were suspected of committing drug trafficking and abusing, the Macao Post Daily reported on Wednesday.

The case involved a 34-year-old man, surnamed Li, from China's Hubei province who allegedly sold drugs to a 28-year-old man also from Hubei and a 19-year-old woman from Hunan province, the daily quoted a police spokesman as saying.

The trio was taken into custody after an employee of a local hotel, where the two suspected drug abusers stayed, found some drug-abuse paraphernalia in a guestroom and reported the find to the police on Monday, according to the spokesman.

The Police seized 7.6 grams of Ice, some five grams of Ketamine and 18 Yaba pills, estimated to have a value of some 15,000 patacas (US$ 1,875), from Li, who refused to reveal the source of the drugs.

However, the police spokesman said that the seized drugs were believed to have been smuggled from the mainland, given Li's frequent entry-exit records between Macao and Zhuhai, a neighboring mainland city.

The suspects have been transferred to Macao's Public Prosecution for further investigation.
