Hundreds of parents waited in line for days in front of the Changping Industrial Kindergarten to obtain a seat for their children in the new semester, the Beijing Daily reported Wednesday.

One parent said lining-up is normal in this area because the number of new candidates have surpassed kindergartens' capacity in the district.

Last year, the kindergarten had added 16 classes for nearby residents. This year, the number could reach 21, and five more kindergartens are under construction.

A representative from the kindergarten said no detailed information is available at present, and that the number of enrollments and date of registration haven't been settled.

A staffer of the Changping District Education Commission said the earliest announcement day could be by the end of June.

"We are conducting enrollment research and preparation, but the announcement date is decided by each kindergarten," the staffer said.
