Corrupt local official gets suspended death penalty

A former high-ranking provincial official was sentenced to death with two years' reprieve by the Tianjin No 1 Intermediate People's Court on Friday.

Mi Fengjun, the former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of People's Congress of Jilin Province, was convicted of embezzling 6.28 million yuan (US$919,392). All his personal properties have been confiscated.
