Xinjiang will become an international energy hub, with six main energy industrial sectors, according to a recent central governmental conference on Xinjiang development. Nineteen provincial attendees discussed future coordinated economic projects in Xinjiang, the 21st Century Business Herald reported Wednesday.
The six mainstay industries are: energy-exploration and production, add-value deep-processing industry, energy pipeline transportation, energy machinery production, oil-drilling and extracting industry, and energy-refinery industry.
Xinjiang enjoys huge energy resources, and the amount of total storage of petroleum, natural-gas, and coal takes up about 30 percent of the national resource storage.
It also benefits from its geographical borders, which extend north to Russia and west to Central Asia. This puts Xinjiang in position to become an international energy city for energy trade and cooperation with China's neighboring countries.
