Man detained for killing wife, in-laws in C China

CHANGSHA - Police have captured a man suspected of killing his wife and her parents in central China's Hunan province a week after he fled, police in Xiangtan city said Thursday.

Li Jun, 41, is suspected of having killed the three in rural Xiangtan city on April 24.

Police tracked Li to neighboring Ningxiang county and on May 2 raided a small inn where he was staying.

Li allegedly attacked the victims with a fruit knife after his wife threatened to divorce him because of his gambling and violence.

He also injured his wife's younger sister, who is being treated in hospital.

The attack happened in Baota township, Yuetang district.

Police are investigating the case.
