Nearly 1 million students in over 3,000 schools in South China's drought-wrecked Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region were short on water supply, as Chinese military rescuers rev up their water delivery to alleviate the students’ thirst.

According to China News Agency, water supply has completely dried up at 52 schools at Tian'e county, in the region's northwest inland city of Hechi.

Spokesman for the Guangxi Education Administration Li Qingxian said the agency would add an emergency donation of water delivery vehicles worth 500,000 yuan ($73,250) to the most severely hit counties, in a bid to ensure the students' continued water usage.
