CRI official gets 10 years for bribery

An official in charge of the technology center of China Radio International (CRI) was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Monday for accepting bribes using his job.

The official surnamed Gao took advantage of his job of seeing to company procurements for CRI and had a part in the device purchase of a private technology company. Gao conspired with another CRI official surnamed Li and received bribes from the company of 150,000 yuan from 2006 to 2007. Gao took 75,000 yuan.

In another case, Gao accepted a liquid crystal television costing 16,000 yuan as bribe from another company that hired Gao for device purchase in 2006.

Gao was reported to have paid back the money, and lesser punishment is expected.
