China-Russia relations a top priority: FM

Relations with Russia are one of the top priorities in China's diplomacy, Yang Jiechi, China’s Foreign Minister said during a news conference at the ongoing Third Session of the National People's Congress, xinhuanet.com reported.
"The two countries respect each other's core interests" Yang said in response to a question posed by a Russian reporter. "We hold the same or similar opinions on many major international or regional issues."
"The two sides have very broad prospects for cooperation and development," he said. "We signed a series of important agreements last year in oil, natural gas and coal, among other areas."
The new China-Russia oil pipeline is expected to be completed this year and put into operation next year, he added.
