BEIJING: An animal keeper died after being bitten by a tiger at the Shanghai Zoo Saturday, local media reported.
The animal keeper surnamed Li who is over 50 is a local Shanghai resident. He was found in critical condition in the tiger's cage Saturday morning and died soon afterward before police arrived, Xinmin.cn reported.

A visitor said he saw the keeper was feeding the Bengal tiger after cleaning its enclosure. "The tigers were obviously very unpatient as they hadn't been eating anything yesterday," said the visitor without giving his name. "And one of the tigers tore aside the bars of the cage, jumped out of it and snapped his neck."
The local police has started further investigation, the report said.
