MACAO: The Government of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) has spent around 2.3 million patacas (US$2.91 million) on the installation of a new traffic monitoring system, enabling residents to check real-time traffic situation online, the local Macao Post Daily reported on Thursday.
According to Lai, the roadside cameras had been installed last year and would be in use within the first quarter of this year. Residents can check the traffic situation on different parts of the city on the bureau's website in Chinese and Portuguese.
Lam Man Wai, an official from Public Security Police, said cars and motorcycles with the new monitoring system would be used for real-time supervision of the traffic situation during emergencies or some big events, such as celebrity activities during the Spring Festival.
