More than 3,700 officials disciplined

A total of 3,743 officials above "section level" were disciplined from January to November 2009 in China, and 764 of them were handed over to judicial authorities, chinanews.cn reported today.

Last year, China's disciplinary departments received 1,318, 362 tip-offs from all levels, and 115,420 cases have been under investigation by police, Gan Yisheng, vice secretary of the Central Discipline Inspection Committee of the CPC, said at a press conference today.

Of those who were disciplined, 85,353 people were given Party disciplinary punishments, and 29,718 people given administrative punishments. About 4 billion yuan ($585 billion) also was recovered.
