Most parts of China will be hit by a new cold wave from the north of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region this weekend, and Beijing is to see another snowfall of this year, cnr.com reported Wednesday.

Sources from the Central Meteorological Station (CMS) said that northern regions of China will see light to moderate snow on Friday in Beijing, Tianjin, parts of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region and north of Hebei province. But the snowfall is not predicted to last long.

Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and Hubei provinces may see light to moderate snowfall, with some parts greeted by heavy snows, said Sun Jun, the chief forecaster for CMS.

"The previous cold spell has brought the temperature to a rather low level, so the new one may not come with a sharp drop in temperatures, with the northern parts of China expecting a drop of 10-12 C and the south expecting a drop of 6-8 degrees," Sun added.
