Batteries included: Police cars go green

Visitors will get the chance to zip around the Expo site on some environmentally minded wheels starting in May.

Over 100 four-wheel and 300 two-wheel battery-powered vehicles equipped with highly sophisticated green technologies will be provided to visitors commuting around the 5.28-sq-km Expo site by sponsor Jiangsu Xinri Electric Bikes Co.

The leading electric vehicle manufacturer in the country is introducing its latest fleet of exhaust-free vehicles, which are designed with an advanced clean-air energy system.

They also include a fault-detection alert system, an impulse charger, which provides simple drive control, reduction in necessary components, and an efficient mounting space and puncture-resistant tires.

The company said its green-friendly vehicles fall in line with sustainable living, a focal point of the Expo theme "Better City, Better Life".

Volunteers and security guards will also use the vehicles in the Expo garden from May to October.
