Government measures to boost these products will include lifting restrictions on Expo products' categories, lowering the requirements for company applicants involving such products, reducing or exempting Expo license fees, enhancing products' promotion and regulating the market.
Retail giant Bailian Group, Bright Food (Group) Co Ltd, Shanghai's Huangpu District Government and Lianjia Supermarket Co also signed agreements on sales volumes for Expo licensed products.
The number of Expo licensed product manufacturers has reached 50, with 2,700 kinds of official products on the market as well as 310 official Expo shops in 47 cities in 25 provincial level areas since late 2007. The sales volume of licensed products has reached 1.15 billion yuan (US$168.48 million) since then.
A sourcing platform to better connect Expo retailers and manufacturers has opened to the public at the 8th floor of ShanghaiMart (2299 Yan'an Rd W). More Expo product manufacturers are expected to join the platform.
