Updated: 2009-07-04 10:41 China's annual consumption of gas will reach 400 billion cubic meters by 2030, with 150 billion cubic meters coming from imports and the remainder from domestic production, Jia Chengzao, chairman of the Chinese Petroleum Society (CPS), said Saturday at the Global Think Tank Summit in Beijing.
Considering that China's import of gas will see an average annual increase of 20 billion cubic meters in the coming years, Ma Xinhua, vice-president of PetroChina Exploration & Production Company, said that China's supply of gas may be greater than its demand during certain time. He suggests that China put priority on the consumption of imported gas.
The first Global Think Tank Summit will be held in Beijing from July 2-4, where close to 100 top-notch think tanks from home and abroad will be represented, including the Brookings Institution.
