CETDZ at the forefront of region's recovery

Changchun Economic and Technological Development Zone (CETDZ) has gained significant achievements and maintained a good momentum of development, Lin Chongzhe, deputy director of the CETDZ Administration Committee, said at a recent press conference.

The press conference was held in the CETDZ to discuss its economic development in the first half of the year.

Between January and June, added industrial value was posted at 11.71 billion yuan, up by 18.2 percent over the same period of last year, accounting for 66.8 percent of the zone's GDP, according to government figures.

During the same period, automobile parts manufacturing industry realized 16.5 billion yuan in output value, contributing 45 percent to zone's total gross industrial output, showing that the industry is recovering. The deep food processing industry increased by 7.5 percent, while other sectors such as food, photoelectron and garments maintained a fast and steady growth momentum.

In the first half of this year, the CETDZ realized 17.11 billion yuan in gross regional products (GRP), an increase of 19.7 percent compared with the same period in 2008.

Faced with the challenges from the global economic downturn, the CETDZ authorities analyzed opportunities for the CETDZ and visited advanced development zones in the Yangtze River Delta.

The authorities have strengthened administrative services, visited key enterprises, assisted enterprises solve problems and help them weather difficulties.

Construction of different parks has been accelerated. In the Biological Industrial Park, infrastructure and a research center are under construction.

In the past few years, 265 million yuan has been invested in infrastructure construction of the Special Vehicle Park. Ten roads have been built and three heating plants have been put into use.

Some companies once established in urban area of Changchun have relocated facilities in the Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park. Another three enterprises have signed cooperation intentions with the park.

CETDZ redoubled its efforts to recruit investment and introduce various programs.

There are currently 89 industrial projects being discussed. A goal of signing 24 significant projects has been set, with a total investment capital of 13.5 billion yuan.

These projects and other ventures show that the CETDZ has entered into a new stage with bright prospects for its development.
