(China Daily)
Updated: 2009-09-10 15:39 Back in 1979, the first meeting between Danieli Luigi, president of the Italian company, and the then minister of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry established the groundwork for the company's strategic entry into the Chinese market.
Since then, Danieli has grown considerably and has maintained good relations with its Chinese customers. The company is committed to providing high-tech solutions for metallurgical field such as turn-key complete steel complex down to single equipments and aftersales activities for the metal industry. Having enjoyed rapid expansion over the last 30 years, the company established Danieli Metallurgical Equipment (Beijing) Co Ltd in the Beijing Economic Development Area (BDA) in 2004, so as to better meet the needs of the Chinese steel market. Danieli Metallurgical Equipment (Beijing) Co Ltd (DME), together with a dedicated workshop operation, was put into operation at the end of March 2005. This facility - DME - now covers an area of 25, 000 sq m, including a 10,000-sq-m workshop area and a 5,000 sq-m office area. It now employs more than 400 people. The company's turnover has also increased significantly - rising from 150 million RMB in 2005 up to 500 million RMB in 2008. Danieli China now consists of Danieli Metallurgical Equipment (Beijing) Co Ltd and Danieli Metallurgical Equipment and Services (Changshu) Co Ltd. It covers a wide range of services, including sales, engineering , automation, procurement, quality, project management, manufacturing, site supervision, as well as comprehensive after-sales service. The remarkable number of innovative process technologies successfully developed and applied which allow the company to ensure the motto: "The reliable and innovative partner in metal industry".
The BDA is located in Beijing, the country's economic hub and cultural center. Its close links with the rest of China has given Danieli a huge boost in terms of staff coordination and project management. The area is also very close to the port, allowing the company rapid access to all of its clients. Another aspect of the setting that appealed to Danieli's management was the modern facilities that featured throughout the BDA, ensuring every possible comfort and convenience for the company's workforce. The BDA can now provide similar investment opportunities and excellent living environment for leading companies, such as Danieli, but creating this kind of environment has not been a simple matter. The results on show today can be attributed to the BDA's long-maintained environmental protection schemes and environmentally-friendly development initiatives. In line with these precepts, Danieli pays considerable attention to the environment and to the potential damage caused by steel industry. Its R&D centers have continuously sought solutions for reducing environmental pollution and enhancing the company's capacity for sustainable development. As Danieli plays a duel role as both a metal industry partner and a steel manufacturing enterprise, it can contribute hugely to the cause of environmental protection by promoting the use of its innovative, eco-friendly advanced technology. The company has sought promote environmental protection in both its Italian plants and in its facilities around the world. In Italy, for instance, its steel production plant has pioneered environmentally-friendly solutions for production of special steel, whilst in China it has been working to enhance the green credentials of its meltshop operations. Danieli is a keen supporter of the Chinese government's measures to counter the effects of industrial pollution and to restore much of the damage done to the environment throughout the 20th century. Aside from its environmental concerns, Danieli is also committed to the integration of Italian and Chinese cultures in the course of its development and management practices. It aims to ensure all of its Chinese employees enjoy a high level of respect, but also to build their awareness of Italy's rich history and cultural heritage.
