Yang Ailun, Head of Climate Campaign, Greenpeace China comments on Wen's speech:

Premier Wen’s speech demonstrates China’s strong determination to do its fair share as a developing country to reduce its carbon emission growth. Wen stresses the challenges faced with China to find a balance between poverty alleviation and climate protection.

In the remaining hours of the Copenhagen Conference, developed countries have to provide more guarantee that the principle of the “common but differentiated responsibilities” of the global action against climate change must be kept alive, and developed countries are held responsible to cut their emissions first and fast.

Greenpeace is also hopeful that a solution could be reached on the issue of data transparency, which ensures the international accountability of China’s domestic carbon reduction actions without offending the sovereignty of developing countries.
