China reports fewer illegal cases in land, mine use

BEIJING: China handled fewer illegal cases in land and mine fields, such as misuse of land and mine resources, in the first 10 months of this year, said an official with the Ministry of Land and Resources on Monday.

Li Jianqin, head of law enforcement and supervision department with the ministry, said that the ministry dug out and investigated 29,753 land-related illegal cases in this period, down 37.76 percent from the same period last year.

These cases involved 300,200 mu (20,000 hectares) of land, representing a decrease of 37.89 percent from a year earlier. This included 126,300 mu of arable land, down 31.16 percent from the same period last year.

The country handled 5,776 mine-related illegal cases in the first 10 months, down 26.07 percent from the same period last year, said Li.
