A resident of Shunde district in Foshan, Guangdong province, had to phone firefighters after she failed to remove a ring she bought at a roadside stand from her finger last Wednesday.
The woman said the poor-quality ring expanded when the weather was warm and contracted in the cold.
"The ring fit me perfectly when I bought it this summer, but ever since the temperature dropped the ring tightened around my finger and wouldn't come off," the woman said.
It took fire fighters less than a minute to cut the ring off her finger.
