Chinese, Russian presidents meet on bilateral co-op

Updated: 2009-11-14 18:05 SINGAPORE: Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev met here Saturday to discuss bilateral relations and other issues of common concern. This is the second meeting between Hu and Medvedev within two months. On September 23, the two leaders held talks in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations climate change summit and other UN meetings. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Russia. In 1996, the two countries established their strategic partnership of coordination. In the past 13 years, the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination has considerably benefited the two peoples due to increasing mutual political trust, strengthening strategic coordination and pragmatic cooperation between the two countries. The two countries signed 12 agreements, including agreements on natural gas and oil, during the 14th regular meeting between the the two premiers last month in Beijing. The two leaders are in Singapore for the Economic Leaders Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). |
