Cultural industry in China
Updated: 2009-11-04 14:27 Cultural and creative industry is becoming a hot industry at an unprecedented speed in China, especially in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Meanwhile, in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Beijing, local governments are promoting the cultural and creative industry actively, building cultural and creative bases with pioneer significance. However, the asymmetry and disequilibrium between economic and cultural reforms is impeding the development of the industry and making cultural system reform a lagging issue. China is now seeking ways to facilitate the reforms on both the national economy and the culture industry and seeking proper ways to reform the industry. Grzegorz W. Kolodko, an economist and former first deputy prime minister and fnancial minister of Poland, will give a presentation on the impact of national economy, system and policy on the culture industry's development during the "China Cultural and Creative Industry Development International Forum" to be held on Nov. 26. Grzegorz W. Kolodko is the author of the Great Transformation 1989-2029 -- Could it Be Better or Will it Be Better? From Shock to Therapy -- The Political Economy of Postsocialist Transformation, which gave a deep understanding and unique opinion on the delicate relationship and profound influence among a country's economy, system and development. |
