Top tip-off website down after debut
(Chinadaily.com.cn)
Updated: 2009-10-30 13:47 China’s top tip-off website for reporting corrupt officials was knocked down on the first day of its launch, the Guangzhou Daily reported Friday. The website www.12388.gov.cn is jointly set up by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the Ministry of Supervision. It aims at dealing with the public's reports on discipline violation problems of the Party organizations and its members, and collecting suggestions for the Party's anti-corruption work. Lu Jianluan, a Guangzhou Daily reporter, found it impossible to access some pages at 2:00 pm Thursday. Some netizens attributed this to a large number of visitors. Many netizens are concerned that the website requirement of stating one’s real name when making a report may incur revenge, according to the report.. The informant website was functioning well at 8:00 pm on Thursday and continues to operate without any problems.
