China vows to enhance int'l anti-graft co-op

BEIJING: China is ready to enhance anti-corruption cooperation with countries around the world, especially the developing countries, State Councilor and Secretary-General of the State Council Ma Kai said Sunday.

Ma made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the second corruption-prevention workshop among developing countries.

The Chinese government attaches great importance to anti-graft work, and takes it as an important political task that concerns the winning or losing of public support, the survival of the Communist Party and the destiny of the nation, Ma said.

Anti-graft work also guarantees the comprehensive construction of a well-off society, he added.

He said corruption is a common problem faced by all nations in the world. The Chinese government is ready to explore ways of anti-corruption with other nations on the basis of mutual respect and emphasis on real effectiveness.

Before the ceremony, Ma met with some representatives of the workshop and diplomatic envoys from the countries concerned.

The workshop was sponsored by the National Bureau of Corruption Prevention, Ministry of Commerce and National School of Administration, with 34 representatives coming form 18 developing nations of Asia, Africa and Central America.
