A couple specializing in the business of reselling railway tickets appeared in a Kunming courtroom this week after being accused of reselling 8,854 tickets with a face value of up to 1.57 million yuan. Li Jun and Lai Xiangju were arrested in January this year in the largest case of reselling tickets in Kunming.

“Reselling tickets can make money. Hard-seat tickets earn 30 yuan, sleeper tickets earn 25 yuan,” Lai said, who kept a record with her husband of the resold tickets in notebooks.

The Kunming Railway Transport court case went to trial on October 14. Prosecutors charged the two defendants with illegal profits for the purpose of reselling tickets.

The prosecutor has recommended a sentence of imprisonment of two years for Li and probation for Lai.
