Current income sentiment index of urban residents sees 1st increase in 2 years

Updated: 2009-09-25 14:21 The People's Bank of China, the central bank, released statistics on September 24 showing the index of current income sentiment of urban residents has risen for the first time in two years, according to their website. The central bank conducted a questionnaire survey among depositors in 50 large, medium and small cities nationwide in mid- and late August this year. The results show the index of current income sentiment in the third quarter of this year was 49 percent, up 3.1 percentage points from last quarter. It went up for the first time since the second half of 2007. The index of future income confidence is 54.7 percent, up 2.6 percent from last quarter, but it still has not surpassed this year's first quarter index of 58.9 percent. |
